GOD & SILENCE

At the end of the road, at the top of the hill,
The shadows hold tight to the frost.
There’s an audible void where the air sits still,
Leaving space for the memories of violence.

To find work and excitement down in the city,
The young have abandoned their old.
To return once a year out of guilt, out of pity,
All that’s left here is God & Silence.
